At the recent launch of Salesforce.com's new VMforce platform, Vinnie Mirchandani and I were asked to participate in a video to kick off the product launch. About 13,000 viewers signed up to watch the launch over the web, and the live interview was displayed on large screens to the audience in attendance.
In this video, veteran journalist Peter Coffee, who is now Salesforce.com's Director of Platform Research, first talks with Vinnie and then asks me a few questions.
My key message in this recording: IT cannot achieve value through cost cutting alone. Innovation is required to develop a leadership position in any field. We all want to save money, but let's not confuse cost cutting with value creation.
