If you're looking for performance, then SSDs - Solid State Drives - is the way to go. But if you want the very best performance then you have to put behind you the SATA port and go for the much faster PCIe port.

This is exactly what Kingston's new HyperX Predator PCIe SSD does, bringing read speeds up to 1400MB/s and write speeds topping out at 1000MB/s to desktop and notebook systems.

The drive comes in two options: a card that slots direct into an M.2 PCIe slot present on a many new systems, or a 'Half-Height, Half-Length' (HHHL) adapter card that transforms a free a PCIe x4 (or higher) slot on the motherboard into an M.2 PCIe slot. The HHHL adapter comes with both a standard and low-profile brackets to allow it to fit in slim desktop builds.

The HyperX Predator PCIe is offered in 240GB (approximately $230) and 480GB (approximately $460) for the drive-only configuration, and comes with a three-year warranty.
