Land rush for top-level domains

The five-year effort by ICANN (the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) to expand the Internet address list is entering the home stretch, with applications for new top-level domain names now being accepted. With about three weeks to go before the deadline for submissions hits, a lot of big players are waiting on the sidelines, hoping that ICANN will clarify just how it will judge each submission.
