Level 3 wires up Sony

Level 3 Communications said Wednesday that it will become the main broadband provider for a service offered by Sony Pictures Digital Entertainment. Sony's Screenblast allows high-speed Internet users to make their own movies and music online as well as to watch existing content and alter it with the provided software. Level 3 said in a statement that the Sony deal gives the company opportunity for long-term revenue growth from media companies, which are potentially huge consumers of bandwidth. The agreement also gives the upstart telecom provider another stable customer during tough times for new entrants into the market.
