“We made the buttons on the screen look so good you'll want to lick them.”
Steve Jobs on Mac OS X’s Acqua user interface, January 2000

At my last contract, I came across the Free Crystal icons and Tango icons, which I blogged about a while back. Now I've happenchanced across the Open Icon Library.

Wow. Hundreds of megaboogies of icons, wall-to-wall icons, more icons than the whole of Rome!

These icons look so tasty, in the words of Steve Jobs, “you’ll want to lick them”. And they don’t only look delectable, they’re also crammed full of free & open licensing, so they’re good for your soul as well.

I applied the same quote in praise of the now-not-so-new ZDNet redesign, and the response was “Never mind lickable, let’s make ’em clickable!”. Oh yes, what buttons are all about.
