LinkedIn opens up company pages APIs for facilitating content publishing

LinkedIn's latest digital publishing move is designed to make it easier for marketers to publish content directly to company pages.

LinkedIn is extending its APIs for company pages with the ability to facilitated publishing content while also getting back data analytics in real-time.

Keith Cowing, a senior product specialist at LinkedIn, asserted in a blog post on Monday that opening up these APIs will make it easier for marketers to generate and manage content on the professional social network.

We want to enable our clients to manage their content marketing from any tool they are comfortable using. Opening our Company Page APIs means that all applications will have access to LinkedIn Company Pages. This will make it even easier for marketers to generate and manage content on LinkedIn and use our new Sponsored Updates solution to extend the reach of that content.

Kamyar Mohager, a senior partner engineer and developer advocate at LinkedIn, suggested in a separate post that "providing the ability to publish quality updates to a company page that your user administers can greatly increase the engagement level of your application and take advantage of LinkedIn's reach to company followers."

While the APIs are meant to be available to all developers on LinkedIn, the tools will be initially available to a select group of partners that have already been testing them over the last year.

This pool includes Hootsuite, HubSpot, Spredfast, Adobe, Shoutlet, Percolate, Salesforce, and Sprinklr.
