The introduction of the Microsoft Surface got a lot of people talking about the company's first PC. Much of that talk centered around the innovative Touch Cover, the thin keyboard cover with the keys pressed into the cover. Those with iPads wishing there was a similar style keyboard cover now have a super thin folio case with the same style keys as an option.
Logitech has long been a maker of good keyboards and cases for the iPad, and the just-released FabricSkin Keyboard Folio is the thinnest and lightest model yet. This case protects the iPad with a folio style case that has a keyboard pressed into the fabric, for those who want the most portable case yet produced for the tablet from Apple.
The FabricSkin comes in an assortment of colors and fabrics to appeal to most everyone. It's not cheap at $149.99 but looks to be a good approach for those wanting a keyboard for the iPad without any extra bulk.
Magnets are used to hold the iPad in a typing position for use with the keyboard, that consists of low-profile keys pressed into the fabric of the case. The iPad can be used in full tablet mode by placing it over the keyboard, which turns off in this position to prevent unintended key presses.
The keyboard connects to the iPad via Bluetooth, and charges via an included microUSB cable. Logitech claims the FabricSkin will last for 3 months on a charge.
The Logitech FabricSkin Keyboard Folio is aimed at iPad owners who prefer the protection of a folio case yet want a keyboard available at times. It is available for preorder from Logitech and is expected to ship in May.
