LongJump has joined the parade of companies building development platforms and marketplaces for collaborative, Web-based business applications aimed at SMBs. At DEMOfall 07 the company launched 14 applications ranging from customer service to human resource management. User can customize applications and offer them through LongJump's catalog.

To jumpstart its business, LongJump is offering all of its applications for free until the end of the year. Pricing information will be disclosed after the free trial period expires, the company said.

LongJump isn't starting from scratch. It's parent company, Relationals, developing the underlying platform for its enterprise-class CRM and SFA application. LongJump offers built-in reporting; search across all its applications; customizable standard objects; 360-degree views of related data; embeddable business processes;, integrated calendars and tasks; policy-based notifications and changes; data sharing controls; SAS 90 Type II compliance; mashup integrations; and 99.999 percent infrastructure and application uptime.

LongJump joins salesforce.com, Coghead, Teqlo, Intuit QuickBase, Zoho and others who offer various levels of on demand application 'factories' and marketplaces for creating and selling custom applications with little coding. Do-it-yourself software Web business software is definitely taking a leap forward. Whether its a long jump (excuse the bad pun) remains to be seen.
