SINGAPORE--Lucent Technologies has unveiled several new contracts covering network types ranging from mobile to wireline communications in Asia.

Among the key announcements made at CommunicAsia today is the contract with Japanese service provider Heisei DenDen (HDD).

HDD plans to increase its network's capacity with the help of Lucent, which will upgrade its metro-area network with 10G based optical systems.

Vietnam Power Telecom (VP Telecom) has also selected Lucent for its phase II CDMA450 network expansion project. Lucent will supply VP Telecom with equipment and services to provide coverage for most provinces in northern Vietnam. The network will provide access to high-quality voice and data services at speeds of up to 153 kilobits per second to both consumers and business customers.

Lucent has also signed an agreement with Aqsacom, a provider of lawful interception systems to government agencies and carriers. Lucent will serve as the prime network integrator for Aqsacom's new customers in Asia Pacific.
