Lucent tops reduced Q4 estimates

Lucent Technologies Inc. topped lowered analyst expectations by a penny in the fourth quarter. After market close Monday, the communications equipment maker reported a fiscal fourth quarter profit of $600 million, or 18 cents per share from continuing operations, excluding special charges. First Call's survey of 24 analysts called for a profit of 17 cents per share.
