Malaysia: iPlanet targets US$11.8m in sales

Malaysia's iPlanet E-Commerce Solutions is confident of reaping RM45 million (US$11.8 million) in sales in its coming financial year.

KUALA LUMPUR--iPlanet E-Commerce Solutions is confident of reaping RM45 million (US$11.8 million) in sales in its coming financial year.

"We sold RM30 million (US$7.9 million) worth of iPlanet solutions in Malaysia in the financial year ending June this year. A 50 percent growth is very achievable," iPlanet director of sales Loo Chong Peng said.

He was speaking to reporters after a signing ceremony appointing Xynapse Sdn Bhd as iPlanet's Malaysian distributor of its suite of e-commerce solutions. iPlanet solutions have a found a home in a variety of industries including the telecommunications, finance, insurance, utilities, manufacturing, government sectors as well as among small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Some of iPlanet's major customers locally includes Telekom Malaysia Berhad, Tenaga Nasional Berhad and Sibexlink Sdn Bhd.

Xynapse, a spin-off from e-business consultant DeliriumCybertouch will provide pre and post sales technical assistance to its appointed resellers comprising e-business consultants and systems integrator partners.

Xynapse general manager Tan Hun Yang said they planned to increase their number of resellers from 18 to about 40 by year end.

Even though Xynapse is only two months old, it has developed knowledge and expertise on iPlanet Solutions as its parent company DeliriumCybertouch has been an iPlanet e-consultant partner for five years.

"There are 3,000 IT companies in the Klang Valley. If we can get 15 percent of this market, we would be very happy," Tan added.
