Maxtor E-IDE drives go up to 3.5Gb

US hard drive maker Maxtor has released a new line. The firm's CyrstalMax range succeeds the 7000 Series and offers between 875Mb and 3.5Gb capacities.

The E-IDE drives use thin film heads and support PIO Mode 4 transfer rates of up to 16.7Mbps. The 4,500rpm drives use between one and four platters, have a 12ms seek time, and come with a 128Kb cache.

The CrystalMax drives will ship from October.
