in brief Internode will upgrade the backhaul connection of its free Wi-Fi offering at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), according to its managing director Simon Hackett.
On broadband forum Whirlpool, Hackett said that the backhaul connection used was being swamped during major games. The good news, he said, was that a large upgrade to the backhaul was being arranged.
Hackett's response came after one forum user — who said they had tried to access the service during a popular game — had difficulties getting access to the service.
The extent to which the service was being used positively surprised Hackett. "The gist though is simple — it's popular! And so we're upgrading it," Hackett told ZDNet Australia.
