Like several other Netizens this week, I took a double-take when I came across headlines in a string of search results claiming that Microsoft had bought the Firefox browser. As it turned out, someone spent a lot time and effort to design the "official page of the Microsoft acquisition of the Mozilla Firefox browser" and launched MSFirefox.com.

Truth be told, my heart skipped a beat as I wondered how I could have missed this major announcement, but, more importantly, this Firefox user felt a tinge of disappointment. We can't escape the realities that the global tech sector is consolidating fast, but we sure need independent organizations and innovators if this industry is to continue to thrive.

Well, I'm glad this is one news that didn't happen. And remember, don't believe everything you read and see on the Internet.
