Online bank counting on Microsoft deal...

Online bank egg.com has formed an alliance with Microsoft to provide online financial services on US company's MoneyCentral channel in the hope of enhancing its global status. The alliance is scheduled to be up and running by the first quarter next year with pilot tests taking place next month. Initially it will kick off with a 'fund supermarket' in the UK. An egg spokesman said the agreement is still being ironed out and there are no financial details being disclosed at this stage. The spokesman said the deal is part of the company's long-term objective of becoming a "global player" and added Microsoft gives egg an ideal platform. He added that plans are being discussed about extending the relationship from funds into other financial products and services with the launch into mainland Europe at a later date.
