Microsoft Australia has announced the general availability of Office 365 and Dynamics CRM Online from its Australian datacentres.

The move by Microsoft follows the company announcing last October the availability of Azure Geo in Australia. Azure Geo is currently being hosted locally at two Microsoft datacentres located in Sydney and Melbourne.

Both Microsoft Office 365 and Dyanmics CRM Online will also be hosted locally at the two datacentres.

Microsoft Office 365 completed a formal security assessment for Unclassified Sensitive government data as part of the Australian government's Independent Registered Assessors Program (IRAP).

Microsoft Australia managing director Pip Marlow said the move is to help ensure Australian customers remain in control of their data.

"The new, local services will provide even faster performance, offer geo-redundant back-up, and help customers address data residency considerations, particularly in sectors such as healthcare, education, government, and financial services," she said.

"Customers are already using Office 365 and CRM Online to transform their business, reinvent their productivity, and gain business efficiencies through better collaboration and connectivity."
