Microsoft schedules 12 Windows Phone sessions for Mix 10 conference

Microsoft has not just one or two, but now 12 sessions dedicated to Windows Phone app and game and development on the agenda for its Mix 10 conference in mid-March, the company announced on February 4.

Microsoft still isn't providing any specifics about what the content will be for those sessions (I'm guessing that will come some time after the Mobile World Conference in mid-February in Barcelona). But there are now 12 placeholders on the Mix site for those sessions.

Microsoft also announced today that Joe Belfiore, a Microsoft Internet Explorer, Windows Media Center and Zune user-interface veteran, is going to be one of the keynoters at the Mix conference, which is happening in mid-March in Las Vegas. These days, Belfiore's title is Corporate Vice President of Windos Mobile Program Management. According to the Mix site, Belfiore is currently responsible for "the overall design and product definition of the software that powers Windows Phones."

If you're thinking about whether to develop for the Windows Mobile 7 platform (which the Softies have basically acknowledged won't be backward-compatible with Windows Mobile 6.X), Mix 10 is looking like an interesting event. Expect to hear lots more about Silverlight for Windows Mobile -- which sounds like is a key piece of the new Windows Phone development picture -- at that event, as well.
