Microsoft whips up Bing app just for Apple's iPad

Summary:Microsoft has released a Bing mobile app optimized especially for the Apple iPad. This app is so pretty it will surely make some users forget about a mobile app designed for another large search engine.

Microsoft has released a Bing mobile app optimized especially for the Apple iPad. This app is so pretty it will surely make some users forget about a mobile app designed for another large search engine.

Bing's app has pages for all the standard most-searched and simple daily info such as news, weather, traffic, stocks, movie listings and popular searches. But it does so with plenty of graphics, hi-res images and a very clean yet aesthetically pleasing layout. When my iPad 2 arrives in the mail (if it ever does), I will certainly be sampling this search app.

One of the more eye-catching screenshots reveals the Bing maps function, which pinpoints in standard map mode or with some gorgeous aerial shots where available. Even if you're just searching for an ATM, it sure looks like fun. (And maybe it's something for Apple developers to ponder when revamping iOS Maps.)
