Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer revealed that Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) will have support for running non-Windows systems (e.g., Linux, Solaris).  WS-Management Web services were used by MOM to manage a Solaris box in a demo given at the Microsoft Management Summit 2005 in Las Vegas. In addition, the Microsoft Virtual Server will have support for Linux-based virtual machines in a service pack update due later this year. This doesn't mean that Ballmer or Microsoft has greatly appreciate for Linux, but the systems management world for enterprise computing must be friendly and respectful to all relevant parties...
