Some of the software licenses held by defunct retail giant Montgomery Wards will be auctioned off on Oct. 25.

The almost 130-year-old retail company, which closed its doors in December, amassed about $100 million in software. The sale, overseen by liquidation company Bid4Assets and intellectual property management company Consor, will include software licenses for applications such as CRM, database management and security software from Cisco Systems, BMC Software and GT Software.

Another sale, by Website Recycling Company, or Webreco, the Net unit of liquidation company Gordon Brothers, will take place in November for much of the enterprise software that Montgomery Wards developed in-house, according to a statement on www.webreco.com. --Greg Sandoval, Special to ZDNet News
