Motorola shipping 100,000 Moto X devices per week from Texas
I didn't want to send back the custom Moto X I checked out and am considering the device for Verizon. Part of the appeal of the Moto X for me is the assembly and customization in the USA and Reuters reports that Motorola is shipping 100,000 phones per week from its Texas facility.
The Moto X is now available from T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon with the custom models still only supported by AT&T. While 100,000 per week is not a record-setting pace, it is still a healthy number for a new US facility. We don't know how many have been sold yet either.
Reuters also reports that workers are paid $12 to $14 per hour, which is about three times higher than what manufacturers pay workers in China to make phones. I'm personally willing to pay more to support workers in the US, but want a custom option on T-Mobile or Verizon.
