Yesterday, Motorola came clean with the $799 price tag for the 3G/4G Xoom tablet. Today, we might have a pre-sale date.

There have been a lot of rumors regarding when the Xoom, unveiled at CES 2011 in January, would actually go on sale - to the point where this is just getting plain annoying.

First, a Facebook page for the Best Buy in Grand Rapids South, Michigan listed the in-store date as February 24. Last week, reports came in that it would actually be February 17 (which is now today). Given that the predicted price point was correct with that last rumor, you'd think that would be valid.

Unless Verizon and Motorola are going for a real surprise and the Xoom suddenly pops up on their respective online stores later today, it's not true. But according to Droid-Life, today was supposed to be the pre-sale launch day, which has now been pushed back to February 20 after having "to comply with some sort of Motorola request." This seems fair enough, and Droid-Life claims that this assertion has been "confirmed." We'll see for sure soon enough.

In other Motorola news, Engadget reports (based on a supposed leaked internal memo) that the Atrix 4G smartphone could show up at least a week earlier than planned on March 6. The memo says it will now be February 22. This seems a bit strange given that AT&T made an official announcement, so perhaps that refers to a pre-order launch date.

Either way, it's shaping up to be a big couple of weeks for Motorola!

UPDATE: The February 22 date is valid. AT&T's Seth Bloom tweeted that "Atrix 4G in-store sales begin 2/22. Existing pre-orders will be shipped for delivery on 2/21." You can thank everyone who pre-ordered the Atrix already as that got things rolling sooner.
