MWC08: HTC announces P3470 with GPS for the entry level consumer

Many of us who love mobile gadgets and mobile devices want to see devices with all the features we can think of running at super fast speeds and having batteries that last forever. However, the majority of the people want a device that works for them available at a reasonalbly low price. HTC has that market covered as well with the help of devices like the new HTC P3470 that was announced today at Mobile World Congress 2008. The HTC P3470 (hopefully to receive a flashier name by carriers) is a Windows Mobile Professional device targeted to the new consumer of mobile data with a retail price of EUR449.

The HTC P3470 looks like a nice device running Windows Mobile 6 Professional on a TI OMPA 850 200 MHz processor with a 2.8 inch display, 256MB ROM, 128MB RAM, integrated GPS radio, microSD card slot, TomTom Navigator 6 software (European release), quad-band GSM/EDGE, integrated Bluetooth 2.0 radio and 2 megapixel camera. As you can see high-end features like 3G and WiFi were not included to help bring the cost down for the new mobile customer. It will be available in Europe later in February with the first model slated to come from Orange in the UK, France, Spain, and the Netherlands.
