My Data Monitor helps you keep track of your Android phone's data usage

Summary:Data overage charges are getting excessive. But there are apps that can help stay far away from your monthly data caps.

With services like Skype and Hulu Plus landing on Android devices, and Verizon and AT&T stripping away their unlimited plans, monitoring your data use has become an essential task. Which is why apps like My Data Monitor are becoming so important.

Via the app, users can keep track of their phone's mobile data usage, getting alerts when the usage gets to a certain point. Users can even split the data usage for individual apps, which a pretty good to for determining whether any apps are leaking data.

All of these things, of course, are done in the effort to save you money. So its a big help that My Data Manager comes in a ad-supported free version. There is also a pro version of the app, which costs $4.

Of course, this isn't the first app if its kind. Perennial favorite 3G WatchDog plays pretty much the same role. But it's always nice to have options.
