NBN Co to size up FTTP vendors

Summary:The builder and operator of the government's wholesale-only fibre telco, NBN Co, has kicked off its hunt for vendors to supply networking equipment for its fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) network.

The builder and operator of the government's wholesale-only fibre telco, NBN Co, has kicked off its hunt for vendors to supply networking equipment for its $43 billion project.

The company has issued a request for networking companies to send the NBN Co "capability statements".

"We want to receive Capability Statements from experienced suppliers of fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) and related active equipment to support the deployment of a point-to-point and gigabit passive optical (GPON) network," it said on its website.

Vendors will be able to view the request from 5pm this afternoon via the NBN Co's website. Responses are due by 21 December.
