Netscape said today that a public beta release of Navigator with the Netcaster push component is imminent. Sam Sethi, UK product PR manager, said this morning that Netcaster would make an appearance on its Web site today although at 7.30pm there was still no sign of the much-hyped 'Webcasting' technology.

The firm is currently seeking UK content partners to fill its channel slots. The Times and two Conde Nast titles will be among the highlights already booked, Sethi added.

Sethi also lashed out at suggestions that vendors will have to make serious adjustments to their Web sites in order to be pushed by Netscape, and pledged to let content providers have carte blanche over look and feel of pushed content. "Netscape has nothing to do with content," he said.
