NetSuite, Juniper, Marketo report solid Q3 results, Qlik stumbles

Qlik results disappoint, but NetSuite, Juniper and Marketo fare well in the third quarter.

Tech earnings were strong overall, but visual analytics player Qlik missed estimates. NetSuite, Juniper and Marketo also reported.

NetSuite reported a third quarter net loss of $37.3 million, or 47 cents a share, on revenue of $192.8 million, up 34 percent from a year ago. On a non-GAAP basis, NetSuite reported a profit of 3 cents a share.

Wall Street was looking for earnings of 2 cents a share on revenue of $193.4 million.

Juniper Networks reported third quarter earnings of $197.7 million, or 51 cents a share, on revenue of $1.25 billion, up 11 percent from a year ago. Non-GAAP earnings for the quarter were 57 cents a share.

The results were better-than-expected.

As for the outlook, Juniper projected revenue of $1.29 billion with non-GAAP earnings of 57 cents a share and 60 cents a share for the fourth quarter.

Qlik, a visual analytics player, reported a third quarter net loss of $16 million, or 17 cents a share, on revenue of $141.2 million, up 8 percent from a year ago. Qlik took a big hit on currency fluctuations. In constant currency, Qlik's revenue would have been up 20 percent from a year ago.

The company reported third quarter non-GAAP earnings of 2 cents a share. Wall Street was looking for earnings of 2 cents a share on revenue of $143.4 million.

As for the outlook, Qlik said sales will be between $206 million to $211 million in the fourth quarter with non-GAAP earnings of 36 cents a share to 39 cents a share. For 2015, Qlik sees revenue between $613 million and $618 million with non-GAAP earnings of 29 cents a share to 31 cents a share.

Marketo reported a third quarter net loss of $18.2 million, or 43 cents a share, on revenue of $54.9 million, up 40 percent from a year ago. Non-GAAP loss for the quarter was 12 cents a share.

Wall Street was looking for a loss of 18 cents a share for the quarter on sales of $54.7 million.

For the fourth quarter, Marketo expects revenue to be between $57.5 million to $58.5 million with a non-GAAP loss of 22 cents a share to 24 cents a share. For 2015, Marketo projected revenue between $209 million and $210 million.
