New free database covers e-waste rules and other IT asset disposal regulations

Redemtech, one of the technology recycling firms vying for a piece of the burgeoning computer and technology recycling, refurbishment and redeployment market, has published a database covering the various electronic waste and data security that may affect organizations trying to figure out what to do with older systems.

The site includes both current and pending regulations, both in North America and around the globe. It can help a company research two very different challenges associated with technology recycling: making sure that technology is disassembled in a manner that complies with various international treaties and ensuring that a record is kept that tracks how equipment is retired and taken off the books (which is more of a Sarbanes-Oxley sort of consideration).
