Nigel Rix, a veteran of Delrina and Dataflex who was recently appointed to the McAfee post, said he plans to boost the firm's enterprise activity by boosting the company's corporate sales force and focusing more heavily on helpdesk, administration and security as well as anti-virus products.

"Large customers aren't just looking for anti-virus but an all-encompassing defence of their enterprises," said Rix.

Rix added that he will also bolster retail partnerships in a bid to get the better of arch-rival and UK anti-virus market leader Dr Solomon's. "McAfee has 65 per cent of the world's anti-virus seats according to IDC, so we realise that not being number one in the UK is an anomaly," he added.
