New on Facebook: tag everything and everyone in your status

The kind kids at Facebook just released something very interesting: the ability to tag friends, events, groups, apps, and pages in status updates.

Additionally, they have decided to use the @ symbol to trigger the search dropdown. I think this is a very cool idea, and only improves the interaction between social graphs. It adds accuracy and interactivity to the stream.

Does it smell like Twitter to you? I don't think they are copying Twitter, just trying to catch up.
