New technology provides secure, mobile e-commerce

New signature recognition adds extra security to online credit card purchases
Written by Will Knight, Contributor

Signature recognition software for the Palm 3Com and MS Windows CE operating systems which can be used to verify online credit card transactions has been revealed by US firm, PenOp.

The program called PocketSign can also be integrated with common and garden Windows applications such as Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat using nifty plug-ins to allow documents and contracts to be authetically signed.

This comes just a day after another signature recognition application for the Palm surfaced from a US company called Communication Intelligence Corporation (CIC).

PocketSign also provides evidence of the signing procedure itself, making it more difficult for a signature to be faked. The software not only works with the Palm and Windows CE machines, but is also available for IBM's Thinkpad.
