News Burst: AMD to cut prices, responds to Intel
AMD confirmed Monday it is about to announce price cuts to combat Intel's reductions, expected today. Details on AMD's cuts were not available.
The move follows reports Intel is to lower prices on its desktop Pentium II and Pentium III families by as much as 41 percent. AMD's marketing manager, Richard Baker, admits the move is necessary. "We have to respond," he says.
