News Burst: SDMI tempts hackers to $10,000 challenge

Hackers are challenged to break SDMI's secure systems with a $10k carrot

The record industry and its allies in the race to create impenetrable music delivery systems have issued a challenge: crack our code and we'll pay you $10,000 (£6,100).

The gauntlet was thrown down by developers at the Secure Digital Music Initiative on Friday and specifies that the first hacker to extract the digital watermark from a song wins the cash.
