The US' Business Software Alliance has filed a lawsuit against 25 individuals it claims participated on the "warez4cable" IRC channel, an Internet forum used allegedly to traffic in pirated software. The BSC said it was the first suit filed against individuals for pirating software in an IRC channel. The defendants are potentially liable for damages up to $100,000 (£62,000) per copyrighted work infringed, according to the association.
