Apple has captured the headlines again, this time to introduce the new brain of the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad: the iPhone. But as Larry Dignan points out, most of this is new for Apple, not smartphones.

Apple did launch something new: a mobile advertising program called iAds, It raises some questions about Apple's role in the world of advertising and how much revenue it can generate for the company.
