Nokia announces three new music-focused phones for Q3

Summary:Earlier this morning Nokia announced three new music-focused devices, but unfortunately there were no announcements made about rolling out the Nokia Music Store or Comes With Music service in the US. Mexico was one of the countries where the Nokia Music Store was announced today so Nokia is moving into North America. Keep in mind there is a difference between the Nokia Music Store and Comes With Music with the Comes With Music store generally following Music Store rollouts and being in far fewer countries at this time.

The Nokia 5730 XpressMusic, Nokia 5330 XpressMusic and Nokia 5030 were all announced today. The 5730 XpressMusic is interesting to me because of the usage of the S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2 operating system and full slide-out QWERTY keyboard. It appears to be similar to the upcoming Nokia E75 with a music focus rather than an enterprise focus. The device also has Bluetooth, WiFi, and GPS so it is a lower cost S60 device with some great connectivity features.

The Nokia 5730 XpressMusic is expected to begin shipping in the third quarter of 2009 for an estimated retail price of 280 EUR before subsidies and taxes.

The 5330 XpressMusic device comes in a slider form factor where you slide up the display to reveal the phone keypad. In closed mode, the buttons appear on a black slab with virtual music buttons appearing when you have the music player open. This is an S40 device with Bluetooth and EDGE connectivity options.

The Nokia 5330 XpressMusic is expected to be available in the third quarter of 2009 for an estimated retail price of 160 EUR. From the Q&A session I understand the 5330 is expected in North America in Q3 2009 as well.

The Nokia 5030 is a very basic Nokia Series 30 phone, with one feature not found on any other Nokia device. It has an internal FM radio antenna so that no headset is needed to listen to the radio and is focused on the emerging markets. The Nokia 5030 is expected to begin shipping in the second quarter of 2009 with an estimated retail price of less than 40 EUR, before taxes or subsidies.
