Nokia taps Sourcefire to secure corporate networks

Nokia security appliances will run Sourcefire's Intrusion Prevention System to offer businesses enhanced network security.

Nokia on Tuesday announced that it will offer Sourcefire's Intrusion Prevention System on its security appliances. Nokia's security products with Sourcefire are designed to secure business networks.

Sourcefire's IPS is based on the open-source Snort technology. Firewall specialist Check Point Software Technologies last year attempted to acquire Sourcefire, but the deal was hampered by U.S. government security concerns. Checkpoint called off the acquisition plans in March of this year.
