Every day ZDNet UK News will bring you two Nuggets -- one just before lunch and the other just before you leave the office. So if you want the latest news on the weird and wonderful gadgets that bless our beloved industry, bookmark ZDNet UK News -- and check out our Nuggets, twice a day.

At the end of the month we will provide a roundup of our favourite gadgets which you could win in our monthly Nuggets competition.

Friendly scanner seeks owner....

The latest two scanners aimed squarely at the consumer market are Primax' Colorado 9600 and Colorado 19200. Why consumer? Well both devices ‘guarantee' user-friendliness through USB plug-and-play connectivity -- arguably more a positive step than a guarantee...

Both scanners come with PrimaPAGE 98 software which lets you scan in texts containing up to 35 languages simultaneously. (There's a stinger pad prize on offer for the first bod to think of a practical use for this.) PowerTWAIN software comes bundled with both models, which allows you to preview and alter images before they're scanned. Once you've got your 35-language document whacked into your PC you can perform all the usual creative alterations with the included MGI PhotoSuite software.

The 9600 is yours for £99. The 19200 costs £119 for which you get increased optical and software resolutions.
