Nvidia launches drivers for Windows 7 beta
Looking to avoid the driver problems it had with Microsoft Vista, Nvidia said Monday that drivers for the Windows 7 beta are available immediately.
If you recall, Nvidia drivers were a major stumbling block for Vista. And given that demand for Nvidia's graphics chips has tanked the company can't afford a repeat.
In a statement, Nvidia said:
GeForce version 181.71 graphics drivers, released today on NVIDIA.com, support the new Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM) v1.1 from Microsoft. Powered by NVIDIA DirectX 10 GPUs, WDDM v1.1 drivers provide an optimal visual experience in Windows 7. These drivers offer increased performance and reliability in both 2D and 3D applications, including the 3D Windows Aero desktop.
The company added that it hopes that its "hard work teaming with Microsoft over the past two years will pay off for GeForce GPU owners." Let's just hope that Windows 7 and Nvidia get along for customers. You can find the drivers on Nvidia's site.
