Nvidia Q1 strong; earnings report slips out early

Summary:Nvidia's first quarter was a solid one, but the company had to release it early since a draft was leaked to 100 people internally.

Nvidia reported its first quarter results early after a draft of the report was emailed to 100 people internally.

The company said it expects to report first quarter earnings of $136.5 million, or 24 cents a share, on revenue of $1.1 billion, up 16 percent from a year ago. Non-GAAP earnings for the quarter were 29 cents a share.

Wall Street was expecting earnings of 22 cents a share on revenue of $1.05 billion.

Nvidia didn't offer any other indicators about the quarter and said it will hold a conference call on Thursday when it was originally scheduled to report.
