An Atlanta-based developer of document management software called DocPath has introduced a new set of applications, called Business Suite Industrial, that purports to extend the life of your line-matrix or thermal printers. You know, the ones that rental car companies use to print out contracts or that many companies use to print out invoices. The technology is still really effective for printing out forms like that, which require multiple copies. As readers of this blog know, they are still widely used in the real world, but some software applications don't support them so well.

The way Business Suite works is by allowing you to format documents that allow for tables, images, barcodes and other things you might want to print using one of these printers.

Notes Julio Olivares, president and CEO of DocPath:

"Many businesses like the cost-effectiveness and efficiency of existing line-matrix printers, but have been forced to migrate to laser due to a severe lack of application flexibility. With DocPath, this is no longer the case. Line matrix is increasingly relevant by offering benefits such as lower energy consumption, hardware longevity, lower cost of ownership and support for graphical forms generation."

It's a case of one green strategy being to use what you already have better than you could have in the past. So, if you've got a fleet of line-matrix or thermal printers to support, you might want to check out this software.
