As software vendors take punches at one another over open source and intellectual property (IP) right disputes, the industry took a step forward to keep open source from turning IP law on its head. One fundamental problem has been the lack of a widely accepted definition of open source and open standards, but fortunately it looks like somebody finally came up with one.
