Wow, I was WAY off when I wrote that I doubted we would ever see Opera Mini approved by Apple for the iPhone, but I just received news from Opera that Opera Mini was approved by Apple and will be on the App Store within 24 hours. I'll be keeping an eye on the App Store for this and will try it on my iPhone 3GS and iPad too. Opera Mini will be available for free and will work on the iPhone and iPod touch.

Lars Boilesen, CEO of Opera Software, stated, ""We are delighted to offer iPhone and iPod touch users a great browsing experience with the Opera Mini App. This app is another step toward Opera's goal of bringing the Web to more people in more places."

As a person who runs an iPhone 3GS on T-Mobile's EDGE data network, this may be just what I need for a faster browsing experience and I am very interested in seeing how it runs compared to Safari.
