Optus Business has nabbed a five-year, AU$60 million contract to provide fixed and mobile telco services to security and surveillance vendor Suretek.

The pair will also join forces to develop new security offerings.

Suretek will be switching its inbound voice, fixed, and wireless data services from its previous carrier to Optus. An Optus spokesperson told ZDNet that Suretek's previous provider was Telstra.

Mobile services will be provided over Optus' 3G and 4G networks. The deal also entails the security vendor moving its Securedial/Securecall 1354 service for alarm transmissions onto the Optus network.

This deal will help Suretek deliver new capabilities across the Asia-Pacific region, according to Optus.

The security vendor attributed its decision to change telco providers to Optus' network investments.

"Optus' strong focus and ongoing investment in super-fast 4G technologies also provide us with the ideal platform to advance the electronic security industry into the IP era," Suretek managing director Glenn Smith said in a statement.

Suretek and Optus are also committed to co-develop new security offerings, with collaboration between both companies' product development teams.

"We're excited to bring Optus 4G connectivity to enhance Suretek's portfolio of security offerings," Optus Business managing director John Paitaridis said in a statement. "Our ICT capabilities both locally and across Asia-Pacific were key to securing the Suretek contract and long-term partnership."
