Oracle has purchased Compendium, a cloud-based content marketing provider, to extend Oracle's Eloqua Marketing Cloud.
Announced on Thursday, the tech giant says that the purchase of Compendium will complement the Eloqua Marketing Cloud and Oracle's customer service platforms. Compendium focuses on assisting enterprises to plan, produce and deliver content to customers across multiple channels, and employs a data-driven approach to make content relevant to businesses and consumers.
Oracle believes the acquisition will improve "top-of-funnel" customer engagement -- using a web presence to provide instruction and educational resources to secure the contact details and commence a relationship with web site visitors.
"As customers increasingly access information through online and mobile channels, the buying process is shifting from sales-driven to marketing-driven. Now, more than ever, marketers are challenged to deliver relevant and engaging content across multiple channels and throughout the customer lifecycle," said Thomas Kurian, Executive Vice President of Oracle Development. "By adding Compendium’s content marketing platform to Oracle Eloqua Marketing Cloud, customers will be able to capture more prospects, improve the customer experience and drive top line revenue."
The transaction has closed, but financial details were not released.
