Oracle, Fujitsu team up in enterprise cloud push
Oracle and Fujitsu have announced a partnership designed to push enterprise cloud computing solutions forward.
Earlier this week, the tech giants said Oracle Cloud Application and Platform services -- such as Oracle Database Cloud Service and Oracle Human Capital Management (HCM) Cloud -- will now be powered by Fujitsu's data centers in Japan.
As part of the companies' agreement, Fujitsu will also push Oracle cloud solutions to enterprise clients in the country and beyond.
Oracle and Fujitsu say that the business decision will result in "a high-performance cloud environment to meet the IT and business needs of customers."
Oracle's cloud solutions will be supported by Fujitsu's data centers as well as the firm's K5 cloud service, an enterprise cloud platform which supports OpenStack, VMware and Bare Metal.
The first Oracle cloud application which will be offered to Fujitsu customers under the joint offering is the Oracle HCM cloud.
Shingo Kagawa, Head of Digital Services Business & CTO at Fujitsu commented:
"We at Fujitsu support the digital transformation of our customers, and aim to contribute to optimized customer systems and business growth with the roll out of our Digital Business Platform MetaArc.
In particular, we offer the core cloud service on MetaArc, K5, which addresses systems of engagement (SoE) and systems of record (SoR) [..] Now, as we look to strengthen MetaArc and K5, taking part in this strategic alliance with Oracle will work to meet the cloud needs of our customers."
Earlier this month, Hewlett-Packard Enterprise (HPE) was awarded $3 billion in damages through a lawsuit against Oracle.
