Oracle intros workbench tool for clinical trial data

Oracle says the data management tool helps researchers automate the data load and standardize disparate data sets.

Just ahead of reporting its fiscal fourth quarter results Thursday, Oracle introduced a data management and warehousing tool that the enterprise software giant says brings a new approach to the handling of clinical trial data.

The Oracle Health Sciences Data Management Workbench allows researchers to integrate, reconcile and analyze clinical data by automating the data load, which Oracle said results in more rapid insight results.

The workbench is integrated with Oracle Life Sciences Data Hub and Oracle Health Sciences InForm, giving it a real-time data flow, Oracle said.

In addition Oracle said the workbench brings a level of standardization among disparate clinical data by enabling researchers to pool data from multiple studies for program development and submission.

The standardization benefits are two-fold, Oracle said: it reduces discrepancies of data within clinical studies, and lowers the cost of trial setup by making data formats reusable.
