Oracle snaps up social smarts with Vitrue acquisition

Hot on the heels of SAP's Ariba buy, Oracle is seeking to bolster its own cloud offerings with the purchase of social marketing company Vitrue

With offices scattered across the United States as well as a European hub in London, Vitrue offers its own cloud-based social marketing and engagement platform.

The acquisition looks like Oracle is trying to step up its game against one of its biggest competitors: social enterprise-loving Salesforce.com.
