Orchestration of resources P2V, V2V and V2P

A real orchestration strategy would have to include the ability to move resources from one physical system to another (P2P), one virtual system to another (V2V) and convert physical to virtual and back (P2V, V2P) to make optimal use of those resources. What is optimal? That, of course, depends upon the policies and service level guidelines of each organization. Making this work in real time is more than a bit tricky. Some suppliers focus on disaster recovery rather than realtime optimization.

Although not a comprehensive or exhaustive list, here are some suppliers offering some of these capabilities.

• Acronis - Universal restore is another product focused on backup and recovery that includes recovering virtual images.
• PlateSpin - PowerConvert offers quite a number of options and is part of several suppliers orchestration solutions. The company won the best of VMworld award for its product.
• SWsoft - Virtuozzo includes the capabilities of moving physical systems into a virtual environment and virtual environments around as needed (called live migration) along with a number of other powerful tools
• Vizioncore - vRanger is another well known tool in this arena. This company's play is more along the lines of disaster recovery.
• VMware - Vmotion includes V2V capabilities.
• XenSource - Xenmotion includes V2V capabilities

I suspect we could also include companies such as Cassatt, Scalent Systems and Virtual Iron in this list as well. What other companies would you add?
