Panasonic announces HX-WA10 slim waterproof HD camcorder that shoots 16-megapixel stills, plus two others

Panasonic announces three full HD camcorders that shoot high-resolution still images, including a waterproof model.

Panasonic has announced five new camcorders at the Panasonic Convention for the UK and European market in London. Three of the newly announced products are the HX-WA10, HX-DC10 and HX-DC1, a trio of compact camcorders that shoot full HD video. Reminiscent of compact camcorders in Sanyo's Xacti line, the three new Panasonic camcorders sport a pistol-grip-style design and, like the Sanyo camcorders, shoot both HD video and high-resolution still images. In fact, like Sanyo, Panasonic's press release refers to them as "dual cameras." Pricing and availability have not yet been announced, but we do have the following details:

Panasonic HX-WA10

Like the Sanyo Xacti VPC-CA102, the new HX-WA10 is a waterproof model, that can shoot HD at a depth of up to 3 meters underwater. The WA10 complies with IPX8 standards and can shoot underwater for up to 60 minutes, but then must be left in dry conditions for 10 minutes before shooting underwater again. Other features include:

Additionally, Panasonic also announced the non-waterproof HX-DC10 and the HX-DC1.
